I am seeing a lot of concerns regarding the seatbelt extenders, the buckle end pretensioner, seat wiring harness and the yellow box connectors that are where the main power and air bag SRS connections sit under the drivers seat. The seat harnesses are catching in the sliding track mechanism during forward and backward adjustments, isn't that a manufacturer error as the harnesses are only kept in place by plastic routing clips, which may or may not be there. I am just wondering if this should…

Both the driver and passenger seatbelts have been replaced due to wear and shredding. Dealership has told us it was caused by the seatbelt extender “becoming delaminated” in both cases. This seems like a design flaw given the age and relatively low mileage (30,800). The more severe damage in the photograph is the driver’s side. The other is the passenger side that we proactively had replaced while the vehicle is still under its new vehicle warranty.

There is already an SIB 513316 out on similar defects. Sloshing noises/water in pax compartment due to rain water intrusion that has caused damage in electronic modules in the trunk due to a defective drainage system--holes are not large enough. Failure of control units located in damaged area--which are no longer functioning such as convertible rooftop will not fuction, radio system, check engine light are just a few we have noticed togther with the recent battery replacement we made. Water…

Subject: Safety Defect Report – B58TU Oil Pump Failure Causing Sudden Vehicle Disablement I am submitting a safety defect report regarding BMW vehicles equipped with the B58 Technical Update engine, primarily model years 2019 to 2021 including 340i, 440i, 540i, X3 M40i, and Toyota Supra models using this engine variant. Took 2017 BMW 440i in for annual state inspection and maintenance. During inspection, service tech noticed that the plastic clip that holds the emergency brake lines in place had failed and needed to be replaced to prevent damage to the emergency brake cables. Service tech replaced the plastic clip with a metal bolt. My service advisor stated that a plastic clip should have never replaced a metal bolt that is used to protect the emergency brake cables. Have owned BMW’s since 1990 and numerous…

Fire

The car basically blew up on the highway at rush hour. BMW knows of this issue with this model and has some of their other models under a recall for this very thing. I have a service action from BMW saying that the water pump assembly needs to be fixed before this very problem occurs but for some reason even though our model is on the service report it isn't on the recall list nor was this part replaced as instructed even though the vehicle has always been service at a BMW dealership. It was…

Emergency Call system failed. SOS warning on instrument cluster. In case of emergency the system is inoperative. This could provoke a Life/Death situation. Several other features are affected: Navigation system, Fuel mileage/distance monitor, Fuel level warning indicator, Clock display. Internet search support’s probable water leak into the Telematics Control Unit from the “Shark Fin” on the roof since it’s mounted right under it.
